Himmati Foundation has taken an active role in delivering PPE to the Northern California community. To date, during the pandemic the Himmati Foundation has donated to over 41 homeless shelters, free health clinics and nonprofit organizations across the United States! As of June 20, 2020 a total of 2750 masks, 6700 gloves and dry food have been donated to these shelters and nonprofits.

Pictured here is when Himmati Foundation donated PPE to the University of San Francisco Medical Centers shelter Family House. It was Founded in 1981, and it is a not-for-profit organization providing temporary housing to families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at the University of California San Francisco Benioff Children’s Hospital. It serves as a home away from home for these families and accommodates 250 people per night.

Their holistic approach focuses on the creation of stable homes; workforce development; neighborhood revitalization; and the creation of greater awareness and engagement by the community, as a whole.

The Long Island Community Hospital is a voluntary, not-for-profit hospital that was established in 1956 and has grown to serve over 400,000 people in the area. This hospital prides itself in its work in the community via free wellness events, education, and collaboration with other local organizations to promote positive growth in the community. During the COVID-19 epidemic, the LIC Hospital task force is collaborating with state and local officials, the Department of Health, and with CDC guidelines to ensure patient safety in this ever-changing environment.

In 1973, a group of community volunteers opened Union Station Homeless Shelters as a simple hospitality center to serve poor and homeless men in downtown Pasadena. Since then USHS has grown a tremendous amount to make a huge impact in the homeless communities of southern California. Their mission is to help individuals and families rebuild their lives and end homelessness.

Since 1999, Mary’s Place has helped hundreds of women and families move out of homelessness into more stable situations. Across seven emergency family shelters in King County, they keep struggling families together, inside, and safe when they have no place else to go, providing resources, housing and employment services, community, and hope. Each day, Housing Specialists work with families to address barriers and empower parents to build family stability, secure housing, and prepare for employment. Kids are connected with schools, participate in fun and enriching activities, and go on outings and adventures in Kids Club. In the evening, families in shelter eat dinner, do homework, socialize, and prepare for the week ahead.
